Photoshop Visual Effects
Here’s a list of some of the filters, blending options, tools, and tips used for the following:

1. Natural Light Beams
a. Select light beam area and fill it white
b. Apply the following filters: motion blur, outer glow

2. Pin-up Girl Effect
a. Remove all details from photo
i. Filter: surface blur – perfect for softening skin surfaces
ii. Smudge tool at 10%
b. Load luminosity as selections – Option+Command+~
c. Filters: surface blur, photocopy, grain texture
d. Blend modes: Overlay, Vivid Light, Soft Light
e. Yellow color to age photo

3. Using Warp Tool
a. Manipulate texture to confrm to any shape
b. Create texture by using the cloud texture within a one pixel wide selection and hen stretching it horizontally. Then add a touch of noise filter.

4. Integrating Illustrator functions with Photoshop
a. Illustrator:
i. 3D revolve tool: Illustrator always revolve the object along the y-axis on the left side so create the shape detail on the right side
ii. fill color as 50% gray to ensure the lighting effects will look right
b. Photoshop:
i. Copy and paste into Photoshop as “Pixels”
ii. Apply filters and blending options to make the lighting pop

5. Creative Dimensions
a. Create water:
i. Create texture by using the cloud texture within a one pixel wide selection and hen stretching it horizontally.
ii. Filter: motion blur, chrome
iii. Blending Mode: Color
iv. Use displacement map to distort water reflection of images

6. Pattern Maker
a. Use for texture
i. i.e. generate text over and over again, use the gradient tool, remove saturation, and apply an overlay blend mode
